Why drink your smoothie when you can top it with granola and peanut butter and eat it with a spoon, am I right? I love smoothie bowls for so many reasons, but holy heck can they be expensive to purchase. But don’t worry, they’re super easy to make at home and cost way less!

Here is my affordable pink dragon smoothie bowl, made with frozen pineapple, passion fruit, pink dragon fruit, and strawberries. And I’ll even give you some tips for making them look super cute.

Serves: 1

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup unsweetened almond milk
  • ¼ cup 100% orange juice
  • ½ cup frozen tropical fruit medley (should have pineapple, passion fruit, and pink dragon fruit)
  • ½ cup frozen strawberries
  • Handful of ice
  • ½ scoop vanilla protein powder
  • 1 tsp ground flax seed

Directions

  1. Place all of the ingredients into a high-speed blender, adding in the liquid ingredients first. Blend on high until smooth and creamy.

If you want to make an aesthetically pleasing smoothie bowl like the one photographed, the trick is to transfer the smoothie into a tupperware container and put it in the freezer until you have all of your other ingredients and toppings ready. Even though the smoothie is super thick, it can melt pretty quickly, especially in warm weather, and a runny smoothie is not so pretty. Top your smoothie bowl with a variety of textures to give it that cafe-bought vibe – I like coconut flakes, granola, and fresh fruit on mine. And finally, finish it off with a drizzle of natural peanut butter and you’ve got a masterpiece!
