Living in Canada, there are some things we don’t have access to, one of those being Trader Joe’s. I always see YouTube videos of Trader Joe’s hauls, favourite Trader Joe’s products, and trying out interesting Trader Joe’s food, and let me tell you, the FOMO is real! As a foodie it sucks not having access to some of the unique products Trader Joe’s has to offer, such as their Everything but the Bagel sesame seasoning. But lucky for you, I’ve found a way to replicate it at home for just a few dollars and it takes less than 5 minutes.

Now, what can you use this seasoning for? Well there’s the obvious option of avocado toast, but you can also sprinkle this seasoning on top of mashed potatoes, roast veggies, or soups! One of the upsides of making this at home is that you can control how much salt you add to the seasoning. Watching your sodium intake? Skip the salt in this recipe altogether!

Here’s the recipe:

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp dried minced garlic
  • 1 tbsp dried minced onion
  • 1 tbsp poppy seeds
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds, toasted (I used white sesame seeds, but a mixture of black and white sesame seeds would look amazing!)
  • 1 tsp flaky salt

Directions

  1. Combine all of the ingredients in a bowl and transfer to a spice jar. Use to top your avocado toast, eggs, and anything else you want!

That’s it! It’s really that simple and now you have your own jar of garlicy, oniony goodness!
